UN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and women’s empowerment. Formed in 2010, UN Women supports intergovernmental bodies in formulating policies and international standards; helps UN member states implement these standards through financial support and training; and leads and coordinates the UN’s work on gender equality. UN Women advocates women’s leadership and political participation; their economic empowerment; education for girls; an end to violence against women; as well as adequate healthcare and childcare policies.
