This competition will enable women entrepreneurs support sustainable development goals (SDGs) through their business operations. The 17 SDGs were set out in 2015 by the UN member countries in order to create a more sustainable world by 2030.
The competition aims to recognise women implementing SDGs, including those that own microenterprises; increase knowledge about SDGs and their impacts on women and non-traditional audiences; and collaborate with private sector partners on all SDGs to share best practices and innovative ideas.
Applicants have to complete a short online template which describes their work and links their initiative or product to 1 or more SDGs. It is open to women who own/lead microenterprises.
Those that win will be recognised in September 2018 at an event on the margins of the 2018 UN General Assembly High-Level Week in New York, USA. The winners’ stories will be shared through partners’ social media channels and websites.
The deadline is 30 June and potential applicants can apply online.
