Female entrepreneurship award launched by UK Government

18 September, 2018

A new competition from Innovate UK will give 8 female entrepreneurs the opportunity to win £50,000 (€55,492.28) in funding each. This will go alongside a year’s worth of mentoring, coaching and business support.

All applicants are invited to put forward ideas relating to UK industrial strategy, focusing on 1 of 4 main challenges:

  1. Artificial intelligence and data
  2. An ageing society
  3. Clean growth
  4. Future mobility

The competition follows the launch of The Telegraph’s ‘Women Mean Business’ campaign, which calls on the government to address funding gaps between male and female entrepreneurs in the UK.

The funding offered by this competition is important as, according to research by FreeAgent and OnePoll, 1 in 8 women working in the UK want to start their own business yet are less likely to receive start-up funding. This is a great opportunity for female entrepreneurs looking for a boost in their industry.

The competition is open to entries until 3 October. For further information, check out the website.
